Functional safety: advice, support & training

What is functional safety?

Functional safety focuses on the effective operation and reliability of safety functions. This could include a safety PLC, safety valves, rupture discs, detection systems, emergency stop functions, light curtains, etc.
In an assessment, the so-called 'failure probability' must be taken into account.

What is SIL and PL?

The Safety Integrity Level (SIL) is a frequently used method to achieve a reliable (process) safety level. The method is part of the harmonized standards IEC-61508, IEC-61511 and the EN-IEC-62061.

Another method that is often used is the Performance Level (PL). This method is also intended to achieve a reliable (process) safety level. PL is related to the EN-ISO 13849-1 standard.
